  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil










  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped










  • 500g beef mince










  • 2 tsp mild curry powder










  • 1 tsp ground allspice










  • 1/2 tsp dried chilli flakes










  • 3 tsp fresh thyme leaves










  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced










  • 1/4 cup fresh breadcrumbs










  • 4 sheets frozen puff pastry, partially thawed










  • 1 egg, lightly beaten










  • 1 tsp poppy seeds










  • 80g mixed salad leaves, to serve









  • Select all ingredients










4 Method Steps






  • Preheat oven to 220ºC/200ºC fan-forced. Line a baking tray with baking paper.





  • Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook brown onion and mince, breaking up mince with a wooden spoon, for 5 minutes or until mince has browned. Cook curry powder, allspice, chilli and thyme, stirring, for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in green onion and breadcrumbs. Season. Cool for 10 minutes.





  • Cut a 20cm circle from each pastry sheet. Top each with 1/4 of the mince mixture. Brush edges with egg. Fold pastry over to enclose. Crimp edges to seal.





  • Place pies on tray. Brush with egg. Sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden and puffed (see note). Serve with salad.
