13 Ingredients
250g Flora Plant Original spread
3 cups (660g) caster sugar
1/3 cup (35g) dairy-free cocoa powder
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
3 cups (405g) gluten-free self-raising flour
1 cup (300g) Coles apple sauce
1/2 cup (50g) psyllium husk
Mixed berries, to serve
Chocolate frosting
150g Flora Plant Original spread
2 cups (300g) gluten-free icing sugar mixture
1/2 cup (50g) dairy-free cocoa powder
1 tbsp vanilla bean paste
1 1/2 tbsp dairy-free milk (such as oat milk)

5 Method Steps
Combine the Flora Plant Original, sugar, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda and 2 cups (500ml) water in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 5 mins or until the sugar dissolves. Increase heat to high and bring to the boil. Set aside for 20 mins to cool.
Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease two 20cm (base measurement) round cake pans and line the bases and sides with baking paper.
Whisk flour, apple sauce and psyllium husk into the chocolate mixture in the saucepan. Divide the mixture among the prepared pans. Bake for 1 hour or until a skewer inserted in the centres comes out clean. Set aside in pans for 5 mins to cool slightly before turning onto a wire rack to cool completely.
To make chocolate frosting, use an electric mixer to beat Flora Plant Original in a bowl until creamy. Add icing sugar and cocoa powder, in 3 batches, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla and milk until smooth.
Place 1 cake on a serving plate. Spread top with 1/2 cup of frosting. Top with remaining cake. Spread top and side of entire cake with remaining frosting. Decorate with berries.
